Alex met with the water and sanitation committee members to discuss about the next steps involving borehole survey and making sure that the village is ready for the borehole survey process making sure that no one interferes with the surveyor while doing his work so that he can come up with a good water point for borehole drilling. The village leaders together with the water user committee were given an assignment to organize a village general meeting an discuss the neutral points in the village that can be considered for water survey by the hydrogeologist when he comes for the survey. The land owners should be willing to give out their land for survey without thinking that kibo group would buy the land for borehole drilling and should be ready to provide a land agreement to kibo group before the borehole survey. The fact that this is the second time kibo group is drilling in this village, there nothing new to the community involving borehole drilling and all the people are very happy and ready for this process. All the village residents would love to have this new well drilled in the upper section where people are more stressed and also two schools have to move quite a long distance to the borehole in the lower section of the village. All the village leaders and the water user committee have called this a golden opportunity to have a second well in their community drilled by the same organization. Alex together with the water and sanitation committee first moved around the village to capture the new dish racks that have been constructed in the village so that this information is updated in the final evaluation. Alex together with the committee have been engaging the village in the past few weeks to construct dish racks and facility maintenance as it had been reflected in the second evaluation. They moved home to home collecting this data to be used in the third evaluation, many of the people have surely maintained their sanitation facility standards looking at the form that was used while moving home to home checking on facility standards. Many of the people continue to thank kibo group for putting them at a high standard and whoever received a hand washing Jerrycan has constantly used it in their homes. The good news still in this village is that most of the people have maintained their sanitation facilities and those few that were lagging behind like Kamini, Enosi, Gabula’s family have also improved.

Program Success

Both the water and sanitation committees continue to work together as they encourage the village to contribute towards their new borehole drilling process and maintenance of the village sanitation and hygiene standards.

The water and sanitation committee members are working together in the water and sanitation program moving home to home to encourage people to maintain the sanitation standards and contribute money to build a wall fence around the old borehole.
