Notes
Tom and Kedi made a visit to kishaike village to meet with the village leaders. Tom was introducing the news to the village that they will be getting a new borehole while also introducing Kedi to the village and the stove program. When they arrived in the village, they found committee members waiting for them at the meeting place. The chairman of the village Mr Kalogo welcomed kibo staff members and thanked kibo for the great work it’s done in the village. He also thanked his committee members for working well with kibo and encouraged them to continue working with kibo for the betterment of the village. After his address, he welcomed Tom. Tom thanked the committee members for their continued efforts in helping the village improve on their sanitation and hygiene as well as their commitment to kibo programs. Tom said that through the period kibo has been in the village of kishaike, the organization has seen the need for a borehole as the old one so over crowded and dries up during the dry season. He said also the village’s efforts in improving in sanitation and hygiene as led kibo to consider the village of kishaike for a new borehole. The village leaders were very excited and appreciative. Tom also encouraged the committee to step up efforts in making sure that all homes have the recommended facilities. Because the weather was not good (drizzling), Tom requested that he invites the visitor (Kedi) to address the meeting. Kedi thanked the village leaders for working well with the WASH program and improving on the sanitation standards of the village. She also spoke about the wood saver stoves and why they are very important in the home. She encouraged the committee members both men and women to be a part and learn as well as build the wood saver stoves. She also spoke about the value of maintaining good sanitation and hygiene standards for the home. She encouraged men in the meeting to improve on the kitchens in their homes so that they can well accommodate the stove. During the meeting it started to rain and the meeting had to be cut short and ended.
