Notes
Introduction Lorna went to meet the leaders concerning Life Skills Program in the community. Overview Lorna arrived late in the village because the roads were almost impassable. Lorna found the committee members already waiting for her. They started with a word of prayer and after that they discussed about how they feel about their children going back to school and whether they prepared them enough as per the government standards of masks and handwashing. They said they are happy that the children are back to school because they were idle but now there minds can be refreshed and also they can avoid bad vices. Lorna urged them however not to forget their responsibilities as parents since home is the first school as the saying goes charity begins at home. After this they talked about how Life Skills Program will be working in this village and also Lorna explained to them why they had paused a bit on the lessons where she was meeting mostly the students. She asked the parents whether they interacted with them concerning what they were learning and they all said no. Lorna encouraged them to always ask them and be concerned about their children’s education. This will help them know which areas they are weak at or strong at and find a way of encouraging them or helping them. Lorna then told them of Life Skills intentions of starting in December with the Parents alongside Students until when schools reopen . They were positive and welcoming and asked Lorna which days were convenient and she told them Tuesday and Thursday and weekends are out but the other days can work. Sadiq one of the chairmen said no Friday’s because it’s their worship day and he suggested Sunday where everyone just laughed and said it’s also a worship day. They later however picked Monday for the meetings and 12pm as the time to meet. Conclusion Lorna thanked them for their time and requested them to continue engaging their children in whatever is going on in their lives. Because the roads were terrible Lorna had to leave to avoid getting stuck Incase it rained.
