Notes
Manuela went to bukudomira to teach about roles and responsibilities. It was good to teach members about this particular lesson because it’s an issue in many homes in the community. Overview When Manuela reached the village, she found members waiting for her ready with their ideas because previously Manuela told them about what they are going to learn this week. Manuela greeted them and requested one of the community members to pray, that was done by Franco. Manuela called for one of the participants to review the previous lessons, a lady by the names Caroline reviewed with the members she would asked them questions and the participants were too active and responded to all the questions. After that review, Manuela introduced to them a new lesson, which was gender roles and responsibilities , Manuela asked them what is gender? One of the participant said that it means sex, the other one said that a man and a woman, Manuela went on and asked them that what are gender roles? No response from the participants. Manuela explained to the community members what gender is, she told them it means the biological tittle of the a man and a woman, she went on and also explained to the participants that gender roles means the responsibilities of a man and a woman. Manuela asked the participants that, what the topical roles of a man, member responded that to build a house, pay school fees, buy food for the family members, to protect the families members from dangers and among others. Manuela asked again what are the roles of a woman, they suggested that to cook food, bear children, teach children manners, wash clothing and other things. But during this session women where complaining about how men have left all their responsibilities to women. Manuela responded to women’s complains and told them that all families dues needs two people that is a man and a woman so that they can bring development in their homes. Manuela went on and told the men around that women are their helper just not to be left all the responsibilities in their hands. Finally, Manuela encouraged the women around to talk to their husbands about roles and responsibilities in their homes.
