Notes
Irene went to maliga to make a follow up on the other homes that she wasn’t able to meet the last time she visited. Irene together with the VHT visited the lower section of maliga village where they met with Maria one of the mothers that Irene has been taking through the health lessons and following up for some time who is expecting her child this December and she has shared with Irene her story. Maria got to know that she is epileptic when she was 18 years and the family couldn’t accept because they believed it was witchcraft, so they took her to some traditional healers each time she got convulsions. As she continued with her life’s challenges of those re occurring episodes she decided to one time visit the health center in their village and that’s when she was told that she maybe epileptic according to the complaints she presented. So she was started on anti- epileptic drugs and counseled on adherence if she wanted to avoid convulsions. Maria got married and she is expecting the second child at 26years, has been visiting the hospital for antenatal and medical services, and Irene asked her to help other people understand the importance of visiting health services.
