Notes
During this visit to Butabira, Alex together with two sanitation committee members, Salem and Charles visited those specific homes that still had some facilities missing in their homes from the third evaluation that was conducted recently. Alex together with the committee have stepped up their efforts to make sure all facilities increase in number and be able to achieve the required sanitation standards before the drilling of the new borehole in the village takes place. Focus has been put on dish rack construction, rubbish pits and hand washing in the homes that were still missing them. Also there were some people that needed to roof their pit latrines to be able to withstand the rain seasons. Alex was happy to meet Viliano working on his new dish rack and was encouraged and guided to come up with a standard dish rack. There were also other new facilities like new hand washing stands in the homes that didn’t have them during the third evaluation. On a very good note those homes that were lagging behind in some facilities have greatly shown signs to improve and already some facilities have been completed. While moving in these homes together with the committee members, they continued to encourage all people to maintain the sanitation standards in their homes during this Christmas season as they prepare to celebrate. The sanitation committee too together with the village chairman Mr. Charles Buyinza were encouraged to continue with their responsibilities to make sure everyone meets the required sanitation standards in their homes. The water user committee was also encouraged to continue collecting money from all people towards constructing the new borehole fence at their old well and for the new borehole to be drilled in the village next year. Alex will plan to go back early next year to update the third evaluation making sure the village meets all required facility standards before the new well drilling. Alex had planned a vialleg meeting but it didn’t take place because many of the people were going for a funeral at the neighboring village.
