Notes
Harriet and Jeska went to Ndalike village to teach the participants the materials required for building stoves. They reached in the village and found the participants waiting at the meeting place. The meeting begun with an open prayer that was led by Sarah Baseke. Kibo staff took them through the materials required for building stoves as termite dirt, grass, banana stems, basins which are used to measure grass and dirt, water , pangas which are used to chop grass,a shovel for creating a hole / vent for smoke. She than asked the participants whether those materials are cheap or freely available in their communities. The participants agreed that those materials are available in their village. Kibo staff asked the participants to move with her in the bush and search for the grass that is required for building stoves. It was very nice for the grass to be found in their community which helped the participants to further understand that the materials are found in their own community. Kibo staff demonstrated to the participants how to practically chop grass and encouraged every one to practice grass chopping. She also told the group that to find time for every one to come with a heap of grass and work together to chop grass. Jeska and Harriet gave the participants an assignment of chopping grass at least 3 bags before the next meeting and this will be one of the qualifications to build stoves. Kibo staff also told the participants to smear their kitchens before the next meeting because kibo is breaking for Christmas until 4th January 2021. Kibo staff wished the participants a merry Christmas and a happy new year.
