Notes
Jeska and Harriet went to Ndalike and Naibowa village to meet the leaders and discuss with them on how to resume work after the long Christmas break and the election break. They wanted to find out if participants can resume meeting after election or they need more time to recover from elections. They begun with Naibowa village on their way to Ndalike. They reached in the village and found only the chairperson of the Healthy and safe kitchens program at the meeting place and some other two members. Later own other participants also came for the meeting. Kibo staff welcomed them from the Christmas break and election and asked them to discuss about their feelings after election so that they can agree on how to resume. The participants told kibo staff that they have been taken up by election and campaigns where by they needed to listen to them so that they able to decide during elections. They added that the election are soon ending because they have the last election on 3rd February 2021. They therefore promised to resume work actively after 3rd and requested kibo to resume working with them after 3rd. The chairperson of the group thanked kibo for that planning meeting that has made them feel that kibo has been thinking about them even if it has not been visiting them frequently since December 2020. Kibo staff later proceeded to Ndalike village, they reached in the village and found when the participants had already gathered at the meeting place. As they were waiting they were busy chopping grass that will be used for building stoves. This was very encouraging because it showed that they are very interested in the program and putting what kibo taught them into practice. Participants told Harriet that from the time kibo last visited their village they have been busy chopping grass and they so far have 5 bags of grass which is more than the assignment kibo had left them with of cut three bags of grass. This was an excellent performance which showed that this community is very committed and eager to learn. During the meeting the participants told kibo that for them they are ready to continue working and even after election for them they remained together as well as working together. Kibo staff gave them another an assignment of smearing their home facilities in preparation for the stove building processes. They encouraged them to continue chopping grass as well so that when stove building process begins we all focus on that. The participants also reported that the policies they formed together with the group leaders and the discipline they have is the one which has helped them to achieve this goal. Kibo staff asked them to chose the date for the next meeting they proposed Monday of 1st Feb 2021.
