Bible Lesson 8: Teaching Children
Notes
Ida and Diana went to Maliga to continue teaching chores and responsibilities in children, according to their age group. The chairperson welcomed us and thanked us for loving them always. Ida and Diana thanked them too, for keeping time and leaving their important work to come and attend the lessons. We encouraged them to keep up the good spirit and to continue putting on the masks. Diana took them through a recap of the previous lesson, they actively answered and remembered everything they were taught. Ida took them through a guide on how best you can know your child. At the age of 2-3 years, their chores need to be basic, like putting away the clothes, passing a cup or plate to you. At 5 years, the children can help to put away dishes, fetch water, give a 3 liter jerrycans to try out, sweep the compound, but in small portions. 8 years, at this age they learn how to cook, fetch water, clean the compound, wash some of their clothes. Ida added on the Bible verse Proverbs 22: ( Train a child in the way he should go; even when he grows, he will not depart from it). Diana encouraged the community, she told them when they begin routine chores at their homes, there can be resistance, especially while it’s still new. However they should not give up( parents). Chores are fun when you do them together with your children. Ida requested when one of the community member to take her to her house to see how she does chores with her children, Ida found out that the children where playing while the compound was not swept, this was a wake up call for the members, we told them that we are going to evaluate them according to every house hold.
