Notes
Ida and Diana went to Nawandyo A to teach about Chores and responsibilities in children. The chairperson welcomed us, he thanked us for not getting tired of visiting them. Ida thanked them for keeping time and emphasized on putting on the masks, because Covid is real, the community should take their life very important because no one will take care of their children. Diana thanked the community members for keeping time. She took them through chores and responsibilities. She asked them what chores and responsibilities in children mean, what type of chores they give to their children and the benefits of chores and responsibilities. Veronica said chores are obligations given to children when they are growing up, and also mentioned some of the chores she gives her children like, sweeping the compound, washing dishes fetching water. Fazira, also added that chores teach children to be responsible when they grow up. Diana thanked them for the good answers and told the other members to clap for them. Diana added on their contributions, she told them, it is very important for every child to learn chores and responsibilities, because when they grow up they will not be disappointed. Teaching children chores is not a punishment, but a blessing to the child and the parents. Children develop confidence, they learn to work well with their peers, they teach children self discipline, they also make children feel important in the family and happier in the family and community. Ida added that chores are not there to kill the child, but to train them to be responsible men and women in the community. Teach them to take good care of chicken and goats, so that they learn to be developmental and not kill their parents because of property. She gave them a story when she was growing up, she was the most loved child, and she was not allowed to do some chores like gardening, when she got married, the husband didn’t have enough money and she was forced to go to the garden, she suffered, because she didn’t know how to dig, but the husband was hard working and he taught her how to dig. She learnt, and this pushed her to teach her children-chores and responsibilities. They are now hard working children. Gave them a Bible verse Proverbs 22:6.(Train up the child the way he should go, when he grows up he will not depart from those ways). The community promised to put these teachings into actions and thanked Ida and Diana for teaching them words of wisdom.
