Notes
Alex was in Butabira to purposely update the homes that had improved into the final survey that was conducted last year. There were some homes that were still working on their sanitation and hygiene improvements and for the many recent visits to this community, Alex has been visiting all these homes that were lagging behind to step up and also improve. Hand washing construction has greatly increased with almost every homes in the village having constructed a hand washing stand. Dish rack construction has also increased amidst many challenges of getting Poles in the village but many people had to buy from the neighboring villages and from people that had them. The general picture in the village is that the village has greatly improved and have already started a transition to prepare the village for the new borehole. Alex also met with the village leaders and the person to construct to guide them how best to construct the wall fence around the borehole. The village has indeed worked together to make sure they buy all the materials to have this wall fence constructed at the borehole. The water user committee is indeed very happy for this new idea as they had faced many challenges of the wooden fence. Alex will go back to continue inspecting the wall fence construction at the borehole, encourage the village residents to maintain the required sanitation standards and prepare the village for the new borehole expected to be drilled in the village.
