Program
Healthy and Safe Kitchens
Notes
Suzan, lonah and Henry went to kalitumba to carry out the first evaluation process. The main purpose of the evaluation was to identify any challenges faced while cooking on the new improved stoves, the benefits of cooking on it and the maintenance of other program facilities such as the high risen firewood storages and smearing of the houses. When they arrived there, they were welcomed by the group chairperson madam Dina and some members. After exchanging greetings, they got up and began walking through the village while visiting the participants who participated in the program activities. Suzan kept on asking different questions concerning the stoves such as any challenges and what they have benefited out of them while filling in form. She also encouraged those that she found with spoilt facilities to see that they repaired them such as smearing their houses, constructing firewood storages, smearing the stoves which were cracking, digging up new rubbish pits and building stoves for the new members interested. About 14 homes were evaluated that day but because of the weather which was changing fast, Suzan had to stop the evaluation and promised to continue in the next visit.
