Irene went to maliga to talk about domestic violence,signs,health effects and prevention. The meeting started with a word of prayers a word from the chair person,review of the previous lessons then introduction of the lesson. The members discussed the meaning of domestic violence, giving examples of domestic violence and health effects to the family and community members. Besides the obvious physical injuries, domestic violence can lead to depression, anxiety, panic attacks, substance abuse and post-traumatic stress disorder. Abuse also might trigger suicide attempts or psychotic episodes. Those were some of the some of the areas discussed. The members also suggested on how to prevent domestic violence. Reporting all kinds of abuse to the police, improving communication in homes,prevention of habits and behaviors that may lead to abuse among others. Irene then informed the members that she is coming towards the end of her lessons but encouraged the members to continue putting into practice the different areas discussed and visiting the health units for screening and treatment.
