Notes
Jeska and Tape went to Naibowa village to guide participants as they build stoves on their own. They reached in the village and found when the participants were already waiting at the meeting place with all the materials required for building stoves which was very encouraging. Kibo staff asked the participants to mix the dirt and grass at a ratio of 2:1 and it was successfuly done. The participants worked together both men and women to stamp the dirt. After Kibo staff asked the women to measure banana stems that will be used to build stoves. The women failed to it however the men and Kibo staff guided them how to do it better. The women were asked to take the lead of building stoves as Kibo staff guided them because it was necessary for them to learn how to build stoves other than relying on men only. This would motivate them to maintain their stoves and being able to build stoves for other participants in the community which can help them to earn a living. The women tried but they messed the part of fixing banana stems as they build the stove. These banana stems would help to create spaces for flow of firewood, and venting out smoke. They put other banana stems but forgot to but a banana stems between the two cooking pots and in the vent and this would affect the effectiveness of the stove. Kibo staff corrected their mistakes and encouraged them to keep on practicing until they master a skill. The men were also happy to see the women also participating other than leaving every thing for the men. Kibo staff also encouraged them to pay attention when Kibo’s is guiding them how to remove banana stems so that they can master that skill. The women were also encouraged when they saw what they tried to do and promised to keep on practicing until they master a skill. They also thanked Kibo for patiently teaching them how to build stoves.
