Notes
Tape went to Ndalike village to teach participants how to build fuel efficient stove. She reached in the village and found the participants waiting at the meeting place. This time they agree to meet at the home of Sarah Baseke whom they had identified to get a stove. They had already gathered all the materials required for building stoves only waiting for Kibo staff to teach them. Kibo staff asked them to give reasons why they chose Sarah Baseke for the stove and they said that the reason why they chose is her is , she is the chairperson of the group, has all the home facilities well smeared and she is active in the group. Kibo staff inspected Sarah’s home facilities and indeed they met standards. Kibo staff asked the participants to try to mix the dirt and grass at the ratio of 2:1. The women failed this whereby at the beginning they put one basin of dirt and wanted to add a basin of grass. Kibo staff corrected their mistake and asked them to mix the dirt and grass at a ratio of two to one. She mixed the dirt as the participants were watching. She taught them how to measure banana stems where Rehema took the lead in measuring banana stems with some other three women in the group. They said that they want to master this skill so that when ever they are to build stoves they are the ones to measure banana stems. Kibo staff told the rest of the group also to pay attention in the stove building excercise because the goal of Kibo is to teach them how to build stoves so that they can build stoves on their own and even they can use the skill to earn a living. Kibo staff worked with the community to staff the dirt to getter with her until it got ready. Together they made small balls out of the dirt, moved them in the kitchen and Kibo staff practically taught them how to build stoves. At the end one stove was successfully done by Kibo staff as she explained the whole process to the community. The participants thanked Kibo for empowering them with a skill and patiently teaching them despite their mistakes they equated this love to Gods love. Kibo staff asked them to pay attention when ever Kibo is teaching them how to practically build stoves, get ready to practice because practice makes perfect. Sarah also thanked the group for having chosen her to get a stove and she promised to continue working with the group from the beginning to an end.
