Notes
Tape went to Ndalike village to teach participants how to practically remove banana stems from the previously built stoves. She reached in the village and found the participants already waiting at the meeting place waiting for Kibo staff to teach them. Tape asked the participants to bring a shovel, a knife that will be used to remove banana stems. She tasked the participants to remove the banana stems so that for her she would shape the stove. The participants tried to remove banana stems from the two stoves but they all forgot to remove the banana stem in the hole between the small pot and the big pot. Kibo staff corrected their mistakes and told them that if they did not remove this banana stem the hole will be blocked and it will affect the flow of fire from the big pot to the small pot. She also also asked them to always look at the complete stoves to guide them on how many holes they have to avoid leaving some banana stems inside which may affect its effectiveness. At the end banana stems from two stoves were removed and the stoves were snapped by Kibo staff. She also tasked the participants to smear the complete stoves so that they look neat and last longer. They did this as Kibo staff supervised. Kibo staff thanked them for their participation , encouraged them to keep on practicing because practice makes perfect. The community also thanked Kibo for involving them in the healthy and safe kitchen program and promised to keep on participating from the beginning to the end of the program.
