Notes
Tom made a visit to Mpumiro village to continue with the supervision of the borehole drilling. When he arrived in the village, he found when the drillers had already started drilling and water was already spilling out of the hole. The drillers said they found water at about 24 meters. At this point the yield of the hole was about 1400liters per hour. They continued drilling up to 42 meters and the yield at that point was about 3000 liters per hour. They drillers suggested that they end the drilling at a depth of 42 meter but Tom suggested that they go further to about 52 meter being that the borehole is in one of the hardest sub-counties (Bulange) to get water. They accepted and were able to drill to a depth of 52 meter and at this point to yield was about 3600 liters per hour. The drillers were very happy that they got water and the village as well were more happy for having a clean water source in their village. The drillers were able to install the temporary casings and pumped water till it cleared. They were given a goat by the community as a form of appreciation for their work they dig toward getting them clean water.
