Notes
Alex was in Butabira village specifically to supervise the process of borehole test pumping and casting making sure the water recovery required is met and water has cleared before the installation of the borehole. First the static water level was at 9M meaning that 45M was all filled with water since this hole is 54M deep. Because the water was hit in a rock, the water cleared just after 15 minutes of blowing and the community started to take it home because it was very clear. The water recovery was at 97% just after 7 minutes meaning that this borehole has got plenty of water and it’s recovery is very good. After the three hours of pumping, the water remained clear and there was no any color change meaning that the borehole is fit for installation. According to its very good water yield, it was decided that this borehole would be installed with 5 stainless pipes. The casting was done that day amidst heavy rains that poured in the afternoon but the pipes would be installed on Saturday morning after the slab has settled well. The community members were very happy to see the borehole done and appreciated Kibo Group for doing their work in the most unique way than they have ever seen. Alex will go back to meet with all the water users and committee about getting the borehole fence done at the borehole, training of the water user committee and discuss about management if the new borehole.
Next Visit

Program Critical Needs
The water committee has a responsibility to make sure that all the remaining steps like construction of the new fence is met as well as to make sure that the new slab is taken good care to dry very well before the village can start to use this new borehole.

18078 All the water user committee members and the land owner were present and happy to see that the work going on smoothly and appreciated kibo group for doing this very quickly better than what they have seen where by many boreholes take very long before they are done
18150 The pump testing team from Draco busy testing the borehole performance calibrating its actual yield and water recovery.
18153 Many people in Butabira were happy to enjoy water that was being pumped during its pump testing for 3 hours. They all called it Ruwenzori water because it looked very clear and took it home for drinking
