Lesson Taught
Bible Lesson 8: Teaching Children
Notes
Diana, Ida and Henry went to Nawandyo A to teach about the causes, effects of school dropouts and how to reduce them. The community was so excited to receive us. We were also happy to meet, they kept time and were eagerly waiting for the lesson. Ida took them through a recap of the previous lesson on how to discipline children. They actively answered and also remembered all the lessons that they have been taught. This was very exciting to us. We commended them for their diligence in the community empowerment lessons. Ida encouraged them to keep loving the program and also to put everything that is taught to them in practice. Diana started, by asking the community, what they understand school dropouts, the causes and effects. Sarah said long distance, Henry said, hunger, poor health. All these answers were correct. Diana thanked them for their good answers. She added on teacher pupil relationship, lack of sanitary pads to girls, poor diet, laziness, all these lead to school dropouts. Parents need to be there for their children, show love to them so that they can open up in case teachers disturb them, when they are faced with other problems, they should give them breakfast before they go to school and others. The community attentively listeners and thanked us for bringing such topics in their community. Ida added on and told the parents to always be there for their children, most especially when they look withdrawn. Parents should fight so hard not to show favoritism to one of the children, most especially showing them that they are the heir, this has made most children to fight their parents, sell their property or even kill the parents, because they want quick riches which they have not worked for. She told them that children should be to work and also study hard for the good of their lives. Henry summed up by encouraging men to all always be open to their wives, and also to find out how they are doing. He told parents to be friendly to their children and to love them always. The community was very happy to here such words of wisdom and promised to fight school dropouts in Nawandyo A. They encouraged us not get tired of them. They also thanked Henry for being humble that means leaving his office to go and see them in their communities. We thanked them for welcoming us always.
