- Suzan went to the village to practically teach the community members how to chop the grass into small pieces. When she arrived there, she went to the meeting place and found some of the community members already at the meeting with their grass piled under a tree. Suzan was happily welcomed and after exchanging greetings, Suzan first explained the whole activity to the members and how it was going to be carried out. First she showed/demonstrated how to rightly hold a hand full of grass while placing it on a piece of firewood or log, one was not to hold the grass very close to the upper part because it would cause some accidents like chopping of the fingers while chopping the grass. She also advised them to always use sharp pangas when cutting the grass so that the particles become smaller which can easily disappear inside the dirt when stamping it and when building the stove. After demonstrating how it was done, Suzan requested one by one to come and try chopping the grass as she had showed them. Each person including the men practiced how to chop the grass while Suzan reminded them to improve on their facilities such as smearing their kitchens and building firewood storages. She also asked them to always work together as a team in some program activities like looking for grass and selecting a day when they would sit together and begin chopping it. This is because chopping the grass alone can take a lot of time and not become enough for building one stove and so the whole process needs to be done in a group. Later after the exercise, the members promised to work together as a team and thanked Kibo staff for the lessons taught that day.
