Notes
Tape went to the village to teach the participants how to remove the banana stems out of the built fuel efficient stoves . When she arrived there, she went to madam Aisha’s home where they had built the previous stove and found the members already gathered . Tape was welcomed to the village and after exchanging greetings, tape requested the members to enter into the kitchen and stand aside while she demonstrated how the banana stems were taken out. Some of the tools used to carry out the activity were the shovel and sharp knives which were used to take out the old stems from the stove. She first explained how the whole process was carried out because the members needed to learn and master the skills more easily. She then began taking out the stems step by step as the members watched critically until she finished. Dirt mixed with cowdang was smeared on the stove and tape requested the owner of the kitchen to always maintain her stove by smearing it at least after every two weeks to avoid cracking. She also advised the members not to cook on the new stoves until they turned one month. Later after tape walked around the village and visited some homes but she noticed that some kitchens needed to be repaired and smeared before the owners received the new improved stoves. She requested them to also construct the firewood storages which will help them save firewood in times of scarcity. The members thanked tape for the lessons taught and meeting came to an end wishing each other a happy stay.
