Notes
Irene went to Naisamula village to teach about maternal child and infant health basically teach about the risks, causes of death, gender roles, and importance of antenatal care. The meeting started with a word from the chairman who welcomed everyone, thanked them for coming back early from the garden to attend the health lesson, taking the initiative to pass on information to the other members about the meetings. He then welcomed Irene to say a word to the members. Irene thanked the chairman for the opportunity given, thanked members for turning up for the meeting though time keeping is still a challenge, and then she asked members to remind her what was studied in the previous lesson, she told the members that they were going to talk about maternal, child and infant health. She asked members the meaning of maternal, infant and child health and with several trials and suggestions Irene added that its Improving the wellbeing of mothers, infants, and children with a goal for the African countries wellbeing, it also determines the health of the next generation and can help predict future public challenges for the families, communities and the healthcare system. Irene further explained the major risks and causes of death in mothers, infants and children some of which included hemorrhage, sepsis, malnutrition, chronic illnesses among others. Then they also discussed the gender roles, explaining what needs should be met for the well-being of the mother, children and infants and what should be prepared when getting ready for labor. The meeting was cut short because it started raining so we were not able to continue with the other discussion and decided to postpone it for the next meeting.
