Notes
Diana went to Nawandyo B, to teach about parenting. Diana got the community ready for the lesson. The chairman welcomed Diana and thanked her for endeavoring to visit them always. He thanked the community members for keeping time and loving the lessons. Diana thanked them for their warm welcome and encouraged them to keep attending the lessons. Diana took them through a recap of the previous lesson which was love in the family. Khamadi said he remembers, cooking together with his wife, praying together, going to the garden together. Diana thanked him for his good participation. Diana introduced the lesson of the day, which was parenting. She asked them what they understand by parenting. Denis said, parenting is taking care of children, he also added that parenting is loving your children, be there for them. Diana thanked all the participants for their good answers. Parenting involves a great deal of consistency and routine, which gives children a sense of control. It focuses in developing independence in children. Parents need to starting taking care of their children from the time they are conceived. Fathers too have a role to play for example touching the mother’s womb and feeling how the baby is playing inside. They should pray for their children and confess positive words to them. Fathers should escort their wives for antenatal care. Some men on hearing this said they can’t because they have a lot of work they do . They said it should women to go for antenatal and not men to escort them. Diana said that, it is a wrong perception, because they all participated in the time of conception. So they need to work hand in hand in bringing up the child. Diana went on to teach that, all parents are responsible for the upbringing of the child. It is from here that Diana demonstrated how men should take care of their children. Parents should stay in control of their emotions and be good role models. They should always listen to their children and show good judgement. Diana encouraged the community of Nawandyo B, to always love their children and be there for them. Parents should know that children are gift from God and they need to be handled with care. Diana concluded with asking them questions, which they actively answered. The chairman thanked Diana for the beautiful lessons and also thanked Kibo for allowing Ida and Diana to work in their community.
