Notes
Diana and Ida went to Bulyowa to teach on chores and responsibilities. The day started well as we went through the dirty and bumpy road, we arrived safely in Bulyowa, where we met a lovely and jolly village. Everyone was eagerly waiting for the lessons. The chairman Mr. Waisswa Godfrey as usual welcomed Ida and Diana and thanked God for the journey mercies granted to them. Godfrey encouraged all the community members to embrace the lessons and keep time whenever they are called upon. He also encouraged the community members to observe S.O.Ps because COVID is real. He told them to put on masks whenever they are in public. The secretary mr. Wabwiire Abbey, thanked the Kibo group team for taking to them beautiful things from Kibo basket. He thanked the community for the good turn up. And requested Ida and Diana to take over the floor. Diana started by thanking the community for welcoming them and for always keeping time. She still emphasized on the community observing S.O.Ps and putting on masks because no one can tell a person who has covid and the one who doesn’t have. The whole group agreed that they will do their best to see that they will wash their hands and put on masks. Diana and Ida clapped for them. Diana later took them through a recap of the previous meeting which was about chores and responsibilities. Diana wanted to know if they truly understood the lesson. Mbeiza said she remembers that hands on movement help the child’s growth and fine motor skills, Dongo Micheal, for him, chores give children a sense of character and help them to develop normally. He also encouraged parents who have more than one child to make them do a chore together, because this will bond them together. Wow Diana thanked them for their brilliant answers, and encouraged them to always teach their children to work so that they don’t embarrass them in public. Ida came in also and continued with the lesson, told the group to clap for themselves for keeping time. She told them, it is a beautiful thing to see how people of Bulyowa lovely. She encouraged them to keep up the spirit of meeting always and maintaining unity. She told them that the best age is around 2-3 years. In this age , they are given basic responsibilities, the can pass you clothes, pick up clothes. At the age of 5 years, the children help to put away clothes, put away dishes, fetch water in a 3 liter jerrycan, sweep the compound, but a small portion. 8 years, at this age, they learn how to cook, fetch water, wash clothes and clean the compound. Proverbs 22: says train up the child the way he should go, even when the child grows, they will not depart from them. Ida added on that, when you begin routine chores at your home, naturally there can be resistance especially when it’s new. However don’t give up. They are fun when you begin it. The community clapped their hands as Ida concluded. Walyomu said that she has understood everything and doesn’t not need any other explanation. She went a head to thank the team of Kibo for educating them on their day today life. The chairman thanked everyone for attending in person and requested them to keep time and put on masks.
