Ws Notes
David and Steven together with the hand pump mechanic, Mr Kabugo from namutumba district went to bulyowa to do the borehole repair of the two boreholes both in A and B. They found when the committee members together with the area residents were waiting for them at the borehole down in bulyowa B . The Kibo staff found when the H P M had removed already the old pipes ,rods, and the cylinder he did so because it was Kibo’s intention to save time because they were supposed to work on two repairs of the two boreholes in both sections A and B. The Kibo staff together with the hand pump mechanic and some residents started the repair process ,they were able to replace and fix back the new parts for example cylinder, rods and seven new stainless pipes. They went further after the repair process pumping the borehole for an hour because they wanted to monitor and see if the dirty water which used to come out of the borehole would continue . They noted that after one hour the clean water started coming and every one was extremely happy for all the help. Steven, David and the HPM told all the people who were there to also move to the next borehole in section B and they removed the old head assembly and replaced it with the new head assemblys. After the second repair in A they also tested it they saw it was also in good working conditions. The committee members together with the residents appreciated Kibo for the great work and unity which was brought to their village because they had never worked together as two committee from the two boreholes. David and Steven called everyone who was there for a small meeting, they discussed more about how they would take full ownership of their borehole.Mr mpata the adviser encouraged the chairmen from the two boreholes to put two provisions of padlocks for the locking up of the two boreholes during the night as one way of keeping their borehole safe. Kibo staff encouraged them to continue contributing more money for the future sustainability of the two boreholes. The village was able to contribute 250000 shillings from the required 400000 shillings for the two boreholes. The treasurer told Kibo staff that some people were only waiting for the harvesting season of their crops then they would be in position to get their contributions. In general the entire village has worked steadily towards everyone improving and maintaining of their hygiene and sanitation to the required set standards and the stoves program is highly recommended because the people in this village have built good standard kitchens. There will be another meeting next week Monday to come up with the borehole by-laws that will guide the community to take good care of their boreholes.
