Health lesson 14: Domestic Violence
Notes
Ida went to Bukudhumira to teach about causes of domestic violence. Ida asked the community members to tell her some causes of domestic violence. Suubo said that poverty is number one cause. Nkwanga said that disrespect has caused domestic violence. Swaibu said that culture beliefs. Annet said that polygamy and ignorance. Dakituli said that Adultery. Each person explained how his/her answer can cause domestic violence. Ida thanked everyone for the great answers because it’s not easy to stand before members and share something. Ida again building on their answers asked how can they reduce or stop violence in their communities. Sam said that they can fight poverty by putting Kibo lessons in practice eg rearing chickens just as Kibo teaches. Start up small businesses or do farming for both domestic and cash. Nkwanga said that since they got married when they were both mature, respect must be exercised by both parents. Parents have done a great deal in causing domestic violence due to their behaviors. Cultural beliefs like night dancing, women resist and their husbands force them which results into fighting Annet said that husbands adding on other wives cause fights. The chairperson thanked Kibo for the lessons that build their families.
