Notes
They went to check on the progress of latrine construction, dish rack, shower area, kitchen area, rubbish pits and emphasizing more on standardization of the facilities. The community has greatly embraced the program and now just 4 homes that are remaining to complete the construction of new latrines. These homes have been a little stubborn for a while where it took them a while to start digging latrine pits. They have finally dug pits, made dish racks, kitchen areas, have smeared homes, clean compounds and more. The residents are working so hard everyday to improve on the sanitation and hygiene levels. There are homes that have also maintained the facilities and are using ash in the latrines. They were so impressed to see that one of the old men who used to ran away already constructed his new latrine. He was so happy and appreciative for the great work of teaching and encouraging them to have better standard facilities. Enock and Martin taught him to use ash in his latrine, make proper drainage systems for his shower area hence keeping it clean, encouraged the wife to then smear the facilities in their home to maintain the hygiene of the home. The chairman and VHTs have reported that there are now few cases of open defection since many people have proper latrines and are using them. The sanitation improvements have also led to the development in homes since there are now few cases of diarrhoea that was initially brought by open defection. The families can save some productive time in their gardens to cultivate, weed, and improve on the food storage for their homes. Generally the community has very many new facilities though it’s a slow season where many people are in their gardens and spend few hours in their homes to clean. Basically the issue now being focused is the issue of hand washing facilities. Few people have so far bought into the idea as some say they steal their jerrycans when they are left out. They encouraged the people to always watch one another to protect their properties. There are still some challenges of not roofing the latrines since grass is still scarce and waiting for the harvesting period of rice to use that grass. Making proper doors has also been another challenge since some people cant afford timber, Enock and Martin explored other ways and methods of making simple doors like use of iron sheets, papyrus mats and more which are more comfortable and keep some privacy while using the facilities.

Village Notes
There was mosquito spraying taking place today in homes of the residents. The move is to chase and stop mosquitoes from spreading malaria. This is done by the government with the help of VHTs after series of educating them how to use the pumps to spread the chemicals in the houses.
