Notes
Diana went to Nawandyo B, to continue with discipline in children according to age. The community had already gathered, ready for the lesson. The Secretary Khamadi welcomed the community empowerment program. He said that since this program entered in their community, it has not left them the same, they now know how to treat their children, their children are helping them with chores. Children no longer move aimlessly, this is courtesy of community empowerment. Diana thanked them for welcoming the community empowerment program in their community. She told them to continue practicing these lessons, because indeed a great transformation will be realized by those who diligently practice these lessons. Diana reminded them that she had left them with an assignment of how they discipline their children. Yudaya said that at the age of 2 years she ignores what the child does, because the child is still young. Sarah said that for her teens, she beats them up, Khamadi says at the age of five the children have to be greeting every visitor who steps in their house. Diana thanked them for their answers. Diana told them that beating the child is not the solution or ignoring them. At the infancy stage, children imitate what parents do, therefore if you are found of shouting, just know that your baby will do the same, therefore parents should watch your behaviors during this stage. Toddlers, in this stage the child starts to distinguish right from wrong, sometimes these children test to see how you the parent will react. The parent should guide them and tell them to stick to what is right. Adolescents are very tricky to handle, parents have to handle them with care, because they can easily lose these teens to bad behaviors. Parents should show love to their children and avoid shouting and abusing them, because this demeans them. Show plenty of affection and attention to the teens. Make time everyday to talk. Young people are likely to make healthy choices if they stay connected to their family members. Get to know your teen’s friends and talk about responsible and respectful relationships. Diana continued with the lesson and thanked the community for their time. The secretary Mr. Khamadi thanked everyone for attending and in particular thanked Kibo organization for letting community empowerment program work in their community.
