While in this village , the community leaders who included the chairperson Mrs Norah Kasoga, the chairperson Mr Gamali, the secetary Mr Mujib and the Lc2 chairman mr Kamaadi welcomed both Chris and Alex Bamulumbye and presesented to them the community constitution, to reach this stage Chris has been engaging the community members through a series of meetings encouraging them to give their opinions regarding the future of their community, all these opinions are written in the constitution which also enables the community to be registered by the government, the chairperson thanked all the community members for their contributions and encouraged them to keep on contributing because they have to register the community group at the subcounty, Mr Farouk one of the community members thanked Kibo and chris for orgainising the community to see that they are now having laws to govern their community and on top of that they are getting registered with the govenment, to him he said it is such a great achievement to see that members walk long distances to come and meet every wednesday. Chris used the opportunity to thank the community members for attending the lessons , he said it was through such lessons the members were able to give their views regarding their constitution, chris thanked the leaders as well for making sure they mobilized members for constitution writting lessons however chris stated that seeing the copy of the constitution does not mean they are now done, he said they have to contribute money to facilitate the registration of the community group at the subcounty, however chris said as they wait to be registered with the subcounty, they should start thinking about community income generating activities (economic activities), the entire community members agreed that income generating activities are activities combined with available resources the community can utilize to get income , when chris asked which recourses they can identify many of the mebers mentioned land, water, swamps, ant hills ( for brick laying) , but the majority agreed that land is the commonest resource regarding income generating activities since 83% of the uganda population engages in farming. Chris asked the community members to identify what they can use land for in order to generate income, Mr gamali the vice chairperson said growing valuable crops, he gave an example of cocoa farming, he suggested that kibo should help the community members by buying for each member ten cocoa seedlings , he said in future they will be selling cocoa and bring a certain percentage of the money back to the community pool, however he asked for more time for the members to identify which other economic acivities they want to engage in, chris promised to continue with the lesson on economic activities next week.
