Enock made a visit To check on the progress of sanitation improvements more so on hand washing construction, assess the usage and standardization of the facilities. During the meeting Enock continued teaching the residents as he walked home to home on the core values of hand washing, emphasizing the use of soap or detergent like Omo while washing their hands. We continued making demonstrations in homes on how to wash hands with soap and washing hands without soap so that the residents can clearly understand how it’s so important to use Soap while washing their hands to kill Germs. As we continued walking around the community, we encouraged the construction of hand washing stands with cement, sand and burnt bricks since this kind of construction materials will be sustainable.
In the home of Mr Sam and Frank we saw how they have managed to maintain the facilities and properly using them.
There are about 76 hand washing stands which we saw suiting the visit, some people construct two stands, one in front of the house and the other next to the latrine. We continued encouraging, emphasizing the residents to not just construct and leave the stand with the jerrycans but to use the jerrycans for washing their hands efficiently.
