Notes
Suzan went to the village to teach and guide the participants how to remove the banana stems out from a previously built stove as well as follow up on the construction of the firewood storages. While taking out the stems, Suzan observed that the community was quite learning faster how to carry out the activity especially the women. Later after, three participants were left to continue smearing the stove and Suzan walked along with the remaining members to different homes while monitoring different program facilities. Along the way, Suzan observed that the members were repairing and smearing their houses and in some kitchens, children were found cooking food on their mother’s fuel efficient stoves. They seemed to be enjoying because one of the girls reported that it cooked food so fast yet it saved firewood and also there was no longer smoke stuck in the kitchens. About sixteen homes were visited that day while seven kitchens had constructed stronger firewood storages which held enough firewood because they had stronger poles. The rest needed to reconstruct their firewood stands while others didn’t have them. Suzan advised the men to assist their wives in constructing stronger firewood stands to avoid accidents like falling on anyone while they are cooking food. Stronger firewood storages can enable one save enough firewood for the future or in times of scarcity. The members thanked Kibo staff for the visit and advice given and promised to improve on their facilities as much as possible.

23365 Butabira. One of the participants Kawala was found preparing to cook on her stove but she did not have a good strong firewood storage stand which is dangerous because these firewood can fall on them as they cook food leading to accidents. Suzan advised her to talk to her husband to construct for her a strong firewood storage stand so that she can stock her firewood there.
