Notes
On arrival to the village Lorna together with Tiffas wife moved to some homes where they were both mobilizing people as well as checking on the stoves built. So far they have built 15 stoves . Some stoves had cracked but Lorna advised them to smear and fill the cracks with mound/ dirt. After moving around, we came back to the meeting place. The meeting was opened with a word of prayer and thereafter we were able to look at the previous lesson which was on early pregnancy. We reminded ourselves on causes and consequences and those who were not there during that lesson actually participate the most like one Nsubuga who when Lorna asked what we looked at previously and he put up his hand and reminded the whole group which left mist people wondering how he knew yet he was not even present in that day. He mentioned that his wife told him what was taught. This was really encouraging and Lorna asked the other community members to also share with their neighbors. After here we looked at early marriages , causes and consequences. We looked at causes like; poverty forcing where some homes are headed by grandparents who can barely fend for the children and because of this situation we find that some boys and girls decide to look else where for a better life, religion when a girl gets pregnant, some parents give a go ahead to their children to get married due to the shame or trying to cover up for their children’s short comings, bad peer groups for boys where pastor mentioned that boys who get married before tend to talk highly of themselves and the freedom they have whereby they have their wives do everything for them while the6 do nothing and because of this others want to copy. Other reasons were early pregnancy, school dropout out, Alcoholic parents, ignorance, children not listening to advice, lack of basic needs, coming from broken homes, greedy parents among others. Lorna then mentioned that we were going to act out the consequences of early marriages however, the community suggested we act everything causes and consequences. We had a family with 2 children a boy and girl where both children wanted to get married. Monica the girl told her mother that since they no longer provide for her basic needs, she was frustrated and wanted to get married. On the other hand the boy mentioned that he was old enough to get married. In the skit we saw both mother and father ask the children why they wanted to get married and went ahead and mentioned the consequences of early marriages both to Monica and Swaibus. It was a very interesting role play and skit where we looked at some consequences like HIV, domestic violence, cheap labor, poverty, dependence on parents among others. As we were still going in , it started to rain however Lorna mentioned to the community members that I’m the next lesson, they will be the court/ counsel and together we will discuss how to help this family. It was a fun role play that even the community members had braved the rain but when it was too much, they scattered each one to their homes. We will start here with Abstinence. Overall it was a great lesson.

Other Program Observations
Lorna walked around a few homes where she was able to see both newly and already constructed stoves. In one particular home, one lady went out of her way and built a charcoal stove with termite dirt which Lorna thought was really creative. The borehole has a problem of delaying to bring out water when pumped and also the recovery is slow.
