Notes
Tom went with the district probation officer and when they arrived, Tom first took her around the village to see what kibo has been doing in the village. They were able to see some latrine pits being dug as well as some being constructed on. She was very thankful to kibo for the great work. She was also impressed that village members were calling Tom and the sanitation committee members to their homes to show them what they have been working on. One resident showed them a rubbish pit he recently dug and he even said he wants to construct a wall around it. After visiting several homes, they visited a home which the probation officer wanted to visit. In this home, there is no latrine, good house, kitchen, rubbish pit, shower or dish rack. The probation officer wanted to speak to the husband and the wife about their home to see how they can improve on it. When they reached the home, they found the woman seated while her brother in law was in the garden harvesting G-nuts. They called on him but her husband was not there even after scheduling to meet with him. The probation officer encouraged them to construct a better house for the children as well as other facilities. When the probation officer looked inside the house, they found only mats but no blanket or a small mattress for the children to sleep on. Also, the house leaks terribly that it rains on them a lot while they sleep. After discussing with the probation officer, the family agreed to take action and promised to have the new house constructed by Nov 20th.
