Manuela and Lorna found out that one of the Life Skills pupils was forced into marriage by the parents simply because she had a wound which they tried to treat but did not get healed, they took the girl to the witch doctor to treat her after treating her , this man asked the parents of this girl for a lot of money that they cant even afford. this man told the parents that if the they can not pay him let the parents give him the girl and that is what the parents did. They decided to marry her off to the witch doctor, which is not good. Manuela and Lorna are following up this case through the senior probation officer to handle the case .

Introduction Manuela and Lorna went to kigalama primary school to teach communication skills, this session is useful as an introduction of good communication skills to the pupils. Manuela taught the pupils about the importance of communication(e.g to pass information, to get news), different means of communicating from one person to another(E.g Newspapers,drums,whistles,body language), Lorna also taught the pupils about barriers of communication skills(Lack of interest, Distance, physical disability, stress). Objective - By the end of the lesson Manuela and Lorna expect the pupils to understand the reason why they need to communicate their ideas, problems to their guardians, teachers and other people who can give positive help. - By the end of this lesson pupils will be able to know all barriers of communication skills. Overview When Manuela and Lorna reached the school they found pupils in life skills class waiting for their teacher to attend to them, when Manuela and Lorna entered the class, Manuela started to roll call the pupils to confirm attendance, as Manuela was doing that she found out that one of the pupils was missing in class, Manuela took an initiative to find out from other pupils.They started to laugh and others said that she is married to a witch doctor in the community, she became speechless and kept quiet for some time then later she continued with the lesson. Manuela went on teaching the pupils , she taught about the importance of communication, what communication skills is, types of communication and the different means of communicating from one person to another. After that Lorna came in and taught the pupils about the different barriers of effective communication skills. After teaching, Manuela Lorna and one of the teachers, sat down and called one of the best friends of Beatrice, the girl who got married to the witch doctor, this girl said that it’s true that she is married but under the influence of her parents simply because they failed to pay the witch doctor the money he asked them to pay after treating the wound that this girl had on her leg. Way forward Manuela and Lorna are following up this case through the teachers and also Manuela has already called the District Education Officer to inform the probation person and the police to follow up the case so the victim can be arrested.

2018-06-18 - Purpose: To teach the pupils about communication styles, Manuela and Lorna will emphasise on passive, aggressive and assertive behaviour.
