- Health lesson 2: Diet
- Ida went to Kigalama B and taught about Nutrition and food security.
It's harvest season where by most people in the community are busy harvesting. But unfortunately they are selling almost everything leaving nothing for home consumption. This lesson will encourage and teach the community the importance of saving food. It's good to sell some and leave the big percentage for home use.
Namumbya opened with a prayer and Kowa read from 1 Corinthians 3:16 which triggered us direct to the lesson.
Ida discussed with the community about the three types of foods we must eat from . These are the GO GROW and GLOW . She asked the community to give examples of go foods and they listed as follows rice, bread, Ida went to Ikumbya and taught about "Suffering "
This lesson is one that prepares the community to stand firm in every situation they might go through.
Ida started by asking if there is any one suffering in any way, they all raised their hands and confirmed it. Ida too told them that she suffers which they didn't believe. They said that people in town don't suffer because they have money, cars, they don't dig and good hospitals are in town.
Ida told them that people in town suffer more than they think. They pay for everything even toilets! Banana leaves and dodo, rent etc.
Both people who leave in town and in the village must not blame any one or God for our suffering.
Many people in the Bible asked this question who is responsible for someone's suffering? E.g. Job,Joseph the one with a coat with many colors,Naomi lost every one,the blind man in the New Testament asked if it was his parents etc.
All those people listed above suffered a lot but were faithful to God.
Jesus suffered but remained obedient to death. He never blamed anyone but went on the cross willingly to buy us back!
Sometimes we don't need to know everything but only have faith. Our Lord Jesus overcame suffering and we believe as his followers, we'll overcome too.
Sin is the general cause of our suffering but through Jesus we are victorious. This lesson touched many and confessed how they have been blaming God's people for nothing. Ida gave them a memory verse for the week to meditate upon as they seek for forgiveness and show love instead of hate.
John 16:33. This will always remind us the reason as to why we are suffering and thank God all the time not only in good times.flour, matooke, posh, cassava etc
And the glow foods they said that they only know only go foods since the majority never went to school. Ida discussed with them about the grow and the glow.
After the lesson Wilson told the community what he had learned that day. He didn't think and know that fruits are also food, he knew that they are just fruits and that is all.
Ida encouraged them to eat from all the 3 types in order to have a balanced diet to made their bodies healthy and strong to fight diseases. She gave an example of a house having very many different materials to be strong.
Kateme advised the community to drink lots of water because the body needs it seriously.
