- Notes
- Harriet found when some participants had already gathered for the meeting. Later other members also turned up. She first told them that it is important for them to have a different committee from Mvule group that will coordinate the stove program because the goal is to promote active participation and the program to be sustainable.
She asked them to choose their leaders. One member suggested that they choose leaders from different parts of the village for easy mobilisation and to ensure that the whole village is represented. This was a good idea and was welcomed by every one in the group.
Harriet also reminded them to be gender conscious when they are choosing leaders. The group successfully chose their leaders and all the corners of the village where represented. They chose a committee of six people; three were men and three were women.
Harriet also reminded them that leadership is a voluntary job. The rest of the group should simplify the work of the leaders by respecting them and attend meetings when ever called upon.
One member called Mpata James said that it’s upon every ones responsibility to turn up for the meetings. In otherwards they should not stay home waiting for the leaders to call them when the meeting starts instead they should always be at the meeting place before the meeting starts.
This brought the group to the next step of setting policies that will govern the stove program. At that time the group was exhausted and it was getting late so Harriet left them with an assignment to think about policies so that they will discuss them in the next meeting.
