Notes
Enock went to this village to walk home to home to check on the sanitation and hygiene progress. He met with the chairman and VHTs to team up and walk around with them to also learn how Kibo teaches, monitors, encourages the community members to improve on there sanitation facilities, standardization and more. Before walking we first had a short meeting with the local leaders to know how the program is progressing, what are the challenges, asked if there are some stubborn homes if they available, talked about which side of the village to visit. After that we then walked around to one section of the village where we saw people are super busy using pick axes to dig latrine holes hitting the rock to get the appropriate depth of 15ft and more. There are three latrines of about 30ft deep. The only challenge is there is no grass available for roofing their structures. Some families can afford buying iron sheets for roofing. Others are digging pits and waiting to Harvest so that they can get money so that they can construct with brick and cement since they are digging deep pits of about 20-30ft. There are some new dish racks with good poles already in place. The families which have finished that construction, they are enjoying using them, drying all their dishes. Enock continued challenging the residents on the consequences of poor sanitation and open defection say the diseases like diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, typhoid, malaria and many more. Enock then challenged all the local leaders to also take the lead and continue encouraging their fellow residents to improve on the sanitation and construct good standard facilities.
