- Tom and Felony made a visit to kisiro village for a village meeting as well as follow up on sanitation and hygiene improvements. Tom was also taking felony to the village for the first time. On their way to the village, they first passed by the police station and picked up a police officer who they went with to Kisiro. When they arrived in the village, they met some of the committee members waiting but according to Tom’s observation, there seemed no sign of a village meeting as many of the residents were moving on with their daily duties as usual. Tom asked one of the committee members if the chairmen had mobilized. He started calling them but some of them seemed like they had not mobilized. Therefore Tom suggested to Felony and one of the committee members that they should move around Instead of sitting around waiting for the residents to gather for the meeting. They first started from the trading center section were they saw some new pits under construction before they crossed over to another section of the trading center. Here they found residents in the pits digging. In the first pit they found a resident and his son digging the pit. They were at a depth of about 4ft and the resident told Tom that by the end of the week, he will be finished or almost done with the pit. In another home they found a lady and her son starting to construct on the pit. The son was stumping the mud for putting on the logs while his mother was bringing the logs to start putting on the pit. Tom saw they were using weak logs on the pit and encouraged them to get better logs as well as guiding the, on how to construct the floor of the latrine. The woman was very happy for the advice given to her and right away started to dig around the pit to prepare it for construction. In another home they found a resident digging a circular pit and he was also encouraged on how to better dig it and construct on it. After that section they moved upwards towards the primary school and here they were able to also find several new pits in the digging phase whole on one pit, they had started the construction of the structure. While moving around the village, Tom was encouraging and teaching about how to better construct the showers by using a few kilos of cement to secure the bricks. After, Tom encouraged the committee members that they can still meet with the chairmen and share about a new day for the meeting. After that Tom and Felony left for jinja.
