- Notes
- David and Steven were in the village to have a training with the new water user committees of the two boreholes to discuss their roles and responsibilities. When David and Steven reached the village ,they found when the new water user committee members were waiting for them at their usual meeting place under the mango tree .After having prayed, the village chairperson gave the Kibo staff the chance to train the new elected members of the water user committee.
David first thanked the members for loving their village, and he continued encouraging them to always take a lead in every aspect of the development in their village.
They discussed about, taking the lead always whenever there would be any need for the sanitation improvements and maintenance. Also to start fully owning their borehole by setting dates when they hope to be having sanitation and boreholes meetings. They did so because they wanted to maintain the set standards as well as the borehole future sustainability.
They also discussed that the new elected committee members would make sure the enacted bylaws which were put into place by the entire village, should be respected and being put into practice . The Kibo staff continued and said that it would not be always Kibo to do the repair process, for that reason they were asked to always take a-lead by continuing making contributions towards their borehole account.
On addition to that David and Steven went to continue with the evaluation of the remaining homes. They did 43 homes because they had utilised much of their time discussing and training the new elected members of the water and sanitation committees.Out of the 43 homes they covered according to David and Stevens assessment, all the homes were meeting the required hygiene standards.Unfortunately the great challenge was out of the 43 homes, only two homes were having the fire saving stoves.
The village is ready for the repair.
David and Steven recommend the stoves program next in this village as they were able to see only 2 stovesr
