- Poultry Day 2
- Ida went to Nabikenge and taught the community how to mix chicken Feeds.
She first reviewed the previous lessons which they got very well.
Ida asked the community if they knew anything about chicken Feeds. They said that they didn’t know anything but been waiting for people like Kibo to come and rescue from ignorance.
Ida told the community the advantages of mixing the Feeds by your selves.
1. To avoid buying Feeds that are fake
2. To save money because it’s cheaper to mix than buying.
Ida told them that when they mix their own Feeds, it reduces the risks of buying fake ones eg. If you needed 25kgs of cotton seeds, you will get the exact measurements but if you bought the already mixed you might buy 20kgs which might affect the growth of your chickens. This feed you are going to mix is for chics from one day to four weeks.
CHIC AND DUCK MASH
1. Maize brand. 62kgs
2. Cotton seed cake. 25kgs
3. Silver fish (muteness). 10kgs
4. Shells (amasonko). 02kgs
5. Pre-mix. 1/2kg
6. Salt. 1/2kg
These ingredients have different values.
Maize brand has proteins and vitamins
Cotton seed cake gives carbohydrates
Silver fish gives proteins and calcium
Shells help strengthen the borne and eggshells.
Pre mix has every food value that might be missing in the above Feeds.
Salt to preserve and making the food tasty.
Margaret junior asked if the food is to be mixed with water.
Ida said that No. the food has to be dry and water must be put in the drinker as you learned previously.
Next time will continue from where we stopped.
Margaret senior thanked Kibo for the great lessons and encouraged the community to put all the lessons in practice.
Next Visit: 2018-08-17 - Purpose: Continue with chicken Feeds practicals.
