Notes
Tom made a visit to kisiro village to check on sanitation and hygiene improvements as well as facility constructions and maintenance. When he arrived in the village, he found when the committee members were waiting for him at one of the committee members place. Together with the committee members, they shared about the sanitation levels in the village as well as discussing about areas that are still low on latrine and other facility coverages. Later they decided that they move to the isamba section of the village. They started by checking a few homes along the way especially those with pits but have not yet constructed on the. In the first homes visited, they found when two of the new pits are done while one pit still has to be constructed on. In one homes the resident had already constructed the mud floor of the latrine and only waiting for bricks like wise another widow . Tom encouraged them to do all they can to finish the constructions before rains start. Later they moved to another home of mr Akabwayi who they found when he was constructing the latrine floor. They appreciated what he had done and encouraged him to finish the latrine so that many other people can look at him for inspiration. From there they visited the home of mr wandera and his sons. They all don’t have any latrine but they found when mr wandera had started on the roof as well as the wall structure for his latrine. Also they visited the councilors home and found that he had one well constructed his latrine and they guided him on how to construct as well as maintain the latrine. Many other homes were visited and in general, Tom realized that there is a great improvement in latrine coverage but Tom encouraged the committee members to also focus on other facilities as well as they mobilize fellow residents.
