Notes
Tom made a visit to kalitumba village to carry out the second triggering in hand washing. When he arrived in the village, he waited for the residents to come to the meeting at the normal meeting place. After waiting for a while and realizing that time was gone for triggering, he asked why the residents had not turned up for the triggering yet they were mobilized. The vhts said it was because of the funeral in the nearby village as well as high school music festivals/competitions that had drawn the people away from the village. Tom shared a short meeting with the 22 residents that had turned up about either to go ahead with the triggering or for the meeting to be postponed so that many more residents attend the meeting. They all agreed that the meeting be postponed and that they will be the mobilizers for the next meeting. After agreeing on that, that decided to move around a few homes that are working on their facilities to see what they are doing. He went to about 12 homes and in those, one 8 homes had already set up their hand washing facilities while the others promised that soon they were also going to set up theirs. In one home, Tom found a resident with a new latrine, shower and a tippy-tap already constructed for hand washing. Tom encouraged him to add two rows of brick and cement on the shower to it more strength and durability. His neighbor was still digging his pit for the latrine and several more. He also found a resident constructing a new shower facility and appreciated what kibo has taught him about sanitation and hygiene. After Tom left for jinja and the triggering was postponed to the 24th of August 2018.
