Village Notes
The borehole that was drilled in 2015 by Kibo group was locked about three months ago by Kibo staff, Alex who found out that the village was not taking good care of this borehole. Also the village hygiene and sanitation standards had deteriorated and so this was a signal to remind people what to be done.

Notes
Alex was in Kasuleta to meet with the water user committee, the vhts and the village LC1 reminding them of their roles and responsibilities, maintaining their hygiene standards and the proper borehole management. About three moths ago, a borehole that was drilled by Kibo group back in 2015 was locked by Alex after he found that the community was not doing a very good job taking good care of the borehole as it was agreed upon in the beginning. Alex also found out that the village hygiene and sanitation standards had gone down with some people needing to re-construct new facilities to replace old ones. Alex met with the water user committee and together they reviewed the roles and responsibilities for the water user committee. On a good note all the water user committees that were selected three years ago were present but this was a sort of a refresher training to remind them all the leaders their roles and responsibilities. Alex told them all to be very active and ensure that all the borehole bylaws are put into consideration. All the water users needs to be responsible and an active water user committee is supposed to aid the functionality of the borehole at all times. The committee members accepted that there had been some weakness and needed some encouragement which they all welcomed and thanked Kibo group for reminding the community of being responsible enough. The three months of seeing their borehole locked and not getting clean water from it has been a learning lesson though in a hard way and all the community members have been reminded how important it is to take good care of their borehole and having clean homes with all the sanitation facilities in place. The chairman water user committee, Balikoowa, the VHTs led by Kadulungu and the village LC1 together agreed to be moving around the village after every three months to ensure that all the people have maintained their sanitation facilities and the borehole bylaws will be revisited many times to encourage all the village people to be responsible on their borehole. The LC1 chairperson has been very weak at encouraging his people on what to do but this time he was attacked by everyone that was in the meeting to wake up and lead his people the right way required. A baseline survey was carried out recently in this village and it showed a good improvement since when the borehole was locked. Alex, David and Steven have been making some visits recently and there are great improvements in the sanitation standards and a borehole will soon be reconnected back for the community to start using it again.
