Notes
When Tom arrived in the village, he met with the chairman of the committee and together they started moving around the village checking on sanitation and hygiene improvements especially on the lower section of the village. They first moved in the center where they found homes which have started some constructions. After the committee members decided that they move towards the lower section of the village. In the first homes visited, there were no latrines as well as dish racks. Tom and the committee members encouraged the residents to improve on their sanitation and hygiene by constructing latrines as well as other facilities. They reached one home where they found a man and his family but with no latrine. Tom encouraged him and he said he will be starting on the digging of the pit soon. Three other residents promised the same while in one home, the two boys decided to break their mothers old kitchen so as to start on a new one. In another home, the woman also cut down the bushes which have been acting as their shower facility so that the man can construct a new one while in many homes the sanitation and hygiene has improved, some are still lagging behind. The chairman thanked kibo for the great work they have done in their village especially to help improve the sanitation and hygiene standards. One resident also acknowledged kibo for the great work it has done because he has seen a positive impact and change towards sanitation and hygiene.
