Notes
Tom and Martin made a visit to kalitumba village to deliver the second bunch of iron sheets to the residents that had contributed for them. Tom met the committee members in namutumba town and together they purchased the iron sheets before heading to kalitumba village. The iron sheets were delivered on a truck to mr silveā€™s home. Before distributing the iron sheets, they first moved around in some homes checking on facility constructions especially some latrines and also Tom shared with the residents about the new method of dish racks construction where the dish rack is constructed on the ground instead of inside the pits. After that discussion and moving around checking on some latrines, they came back to the meeting place where they started talking about the program as well as how the roofing of latrines will be conducted. They suggested that they will be using a man from the village who does mansion work to help them with the roofing. Tom also encouraged them to use better poles and nails to secure the iron sheets on the roof of the latrines instead of using stones to set on the iron sheets. During the discussion there was a lady who openly spoke of how her home has changed. She said she never expected to even at one time to have a latrine in her home. She was happy that her home finally has a new latrine constructed of bricks and cement. She also pointed out that her husband now stays home as compared to before. For the first time, her husband Mr Charles also attended the meeting and Tom as well as the committee members thanked him for stepping up to improve his home. He did not say anything during the meeting but he was feeling proud and thankful. He participated more in helping other residents get the iron sheets as well as setting them aside for other residents. The distribution went well and all the residents that had contributed got their iron sheets and they were thankful. After the residents thanked kibo for fulfilling its promises as compared to many other NGOs whom they said always promised them things but never delivered on any of their promises. After the meeting Tom left for jinja.
