Notes
When Tom arrived in the village, he found the committee members waiting in the trading center and also was Mr kabwayi who when he saw Tom, he was so excited and asked Tom to go to his home to see his new latrine. Tom had taken a while without visiting the section of me Kabwayi. Tom and the committee members agreed to visiting that section to see Mr kabwayi’s latrine as well as other homes in that section. On the way, they visited several homes encouraging residents to maintain there facilities. There was a resident who in the village is referred to as Rasta. When he saw Tom passing by his home, he ran from the garden calling Tom (musawo-doctors) to wait a bit. He wanted to Thank Tom (kibo) for the work he has done in the village. He was very appreciative because now, he himself has a latrine which he did not have before but most importantly, he said in the village on all pathways as well as his garden, there is no any open defecation compared to before when all pathways and gardens in the village were littered with feces. Also there was a home of an elderly woman who finished her latrine. The committee members and Tom appreciated her and encouraged her to continue maintaining sanitation and sanitation in her home to avoid diseases. In Mr Kabwayi’s home, they found his wife who was equally excited on seeing Tom and more so showing him there new latrine. Tom encouraged them to also improve on other facilities like the dish rack and the shower. In the lower section, they found a resident who recently finished his new latrine. Tom was very thankful and appreciative for the work the resident did. There was also a committee member who was impressed by the latrine that he also said he was to do the same in his home because the latrine was very simple but good. In other homes, Tom and the committee members encouraged residents on other facilities like showers and dish racks.
