- Notes
- David was in the village and his intention of going there was to monitor the status of the repaired borehole, as well as following up on specific homes. He also met with the leaders and discussed how they would maintain the hygiene standards in the village.
While in the village David was joined by the chairman of the village mr Waguwenda David who led David to the different homes which were a half way left to complete their construction process of their new latrines.
They visited the first home of mr Bwiso Nassser during their home to home movements . But unfortunately he had constructed a shorter pit and already he was making use of it . Therefore David advised him and the mother to always be advising the elder son to improve on the status of their latrine pit by using the one they had which was of 7 feet deep while they start digging anew deeper latrine pit for the entire family. A recommended pit latrine should be at least 15 feet deep.
David and the chairman continued to the home of mr Sam the defence of the village. They found him when he had finished the construction of his pit latrine about 32 feet deep and even he had smeared his pit latrine. David was happy with Sam for the great change and improvements in his home because he used to be one of the most complicated homes to get changed. There he advised him to always maintaining the required sanitation standards.
At that same point the chairman also advised the wife of Mr Sam to always keep her home compound clean by digging the bushes and sweeping daily.
The other home which they visited was for mr Magala Margret . Fortunately for him he had worked and improved on all the sanitation facilities in his home . Therefore David encouraged mr Magala margret to teach his neighbors by setting and transferring the set standards in his home to the neighbors.
David and the chairman of the village also Visited the borehole . However David was so much encouraged with the status of the borehole. Because the committee had taken the total care and ownership of their borehole. Mr Bwiso Nasser told David that they had 200,000 shillings as their borehole account balance . David advised them to always continuing having monthly borehole and sanitation meetings in order to monitor how they will be progressing.
David and the chairman of the village then concluded of planning for the next meeting which will be aimed at emphasizing how the entire village will stay maintaining the required sanitation standards.
In general the entire village has maintained the required sanitation standards except some few homes which were reminded of improving and maintaining some of their facilities.
