Notes
David and Steven were in the village. Their intention of going there was to have a meeting together with the committee members as away of reminding them about the full borehole ownership and responsibilities. When the Kibo staff reached the village they found when the committee members had all gathered near the church prepared to hear from the Kibo staff. The meeting was chaired by David who started the meeting with an opening prayer. David later invited all the committee members to introduced their names and roles they play on the committee. After the brief self introduction of the committee members,David had already realized that the majority of the members had forgotten their roles and responsibilities towards the sustainability of their borehole. The Kibo staff continued and asked the members what was some of the problems they were encountering with the corse of their serving as the water user committee members. Mary mutoto one of the committee members raised one concerns of all the committee members collecting money from the community for the borehole account . Mary said that all the members dint know their boundaries and the responsibilities they were to do. Therefore David discovered that what was causing all that much confusion with the committee members was all the members not know their full roles and responsibilities. They continued their meeting by even the treasurer who had refused to reveal the amount he had collected as the villages borehole account balance .He revealed the much he had kept as being 383500 shillings. The members were happy to know how much they had contributed. Therefore David went briefly through their roles and responsibilities . Among the main things David put his emphasis on was full borehole ownership and responsibilities. He told the members that it is not always going to be the Kibo reminding them to keep the sustainability of their borehole. David continued and encouraged the members to give respect for each other for the smooth running of their service. Due to the limited time factor David had to end the meeting by advising the committee members to have always monthly meetings starting with the month of February. On that note the members reacted by saying that they will start holding meetings at the end of every month. In order to evaluate how they will be progressing and also to continue strategizing their way forward. They concluded their meeting by hopping that there was need for a general village borehole ownership meeting training in the village. In general the hygiene and sanitation of the entire village was good except the concerned which was raised in the meeting of some roofs of some latrines which were off due to some heavy rains.
