Notes
Ten homes in Budumba village were still showing no latrine present in their homes according to the third evaluation that was conducted. Alex had to go and follow up on these specific homes to see if they had made any progress since when the last time water sanitation and hygiene was present in this village to encourage all. Out of the 10 homes, 4 of the homes had made progress with one of the household digging a very deep pit latrine and put up 4 stalls because it’s a large family. The other remaining homes are still struggling because of some challenges like one home for Lubale Jackson the husband went away and only the woman lives with the children but they share a pit latrine with her mother. The other remaining homes also still have challenges like Namwandu Asa is a widow and so the son put on another door for her mother to use. However there was no open defecation seen in these homes something that was very much encouraging and Alex encouraged the water user committee led by Eddy to continue encouraging all the village people to maintain their Sanitation standards. Also on a good note, there were new dish racks that some homes had constructed replacing the old ones. The sanitation committee has made efforts to encourage all the village people to maintain their sanitation facilities. A general meeting will be scheduled to meet all the village leaders and the community to come up with ways to maintain their sanitation standards The borehole too is taken good care of and Alex met with the water user committee chairperson and the caretaker and discussed about how the borehole committee needed to be active at all times. The water committee needs to follow all the bylaws to guide them on how best they have to take good care of their borehole. The women that Alex met with requested for health and spiritual empowerment because of the issues they are facing. Ida will be joining Budumba soon
