Notes
Enock and Martin went to this community to check on latrine construction, dish racks, kitchen areas, shower areas. There are many new latrines which have been constructed during the time kibo came to this village. As we moved around, we saw many new latrines the chairman and VHTs confessed and said there are some families which for many years used to practice open defection, lot of disease out breaks as a result of diseases like diarrhea, dysentery and more. There are many people who have been transformed, they have embraced the program, built good standard structures which are constructed with bricks, cement and sand. Some people constructed with mad and brick , we encouraged them to smear all the facilities. When we walked around, we continued teaching, sensitizing the residents on how to use ash in latrines, more emphasizes on hand washing facilities and usage. We encouraged all the parents to also teach their children to always wash their hand before eating any meal and this will reduce the cases of diarrhea and stomach arch. We reminded all the residents where they came from not to go back to those old ways and continue improving their sanitation and hygiene. This will help to develop the community, save them enough time to be productive in their garden to reduce worries of continuous sicknesses. We also made sure that all the local leaders have all the necessary facilities. We walked to their home to monitor, evaluate and empower them to be more exemplary. People who bought iron sheets finished roofing their latrines and the people who took the jerrycans also constructed a hand washing station.
